Exploring AI creation within motion design
This case study started as a way to dive deeper into AI creation within motion design. I wanted to broaden my scope of AI tools that I can add to my workflow. At the same time, I challenged myself to create a fast, flashy product concept using only typography, movement, and sound based on the "Don't blink" apple commercial.
Combining AI generation with motion design
To make this concept, I used a mix of AI tools to generate the visuals for the glasses. I worked with the older Sora model and the newer Gemini Nano Banana model, along with image generators from Google and OpenAI. These AI-generated visuals were then mixed with typography animation, and sound design to create a high-energy product teaser.
The Proces
01. AI tool research. I started by researching which AI tools were available and which ones worked best for generating high-quality visuals that could fit a product concept like this.
02. AI generation. After that, I used OpenAI and the Gemini Nano Banana model to generate the visuals for the glasses and explore different outcomes.
03. Typography animation. Since I wanted to use AI as a tool rather than let it completely take over my creative process, I created the typography animation myself. Because the concept needed to feel like an Apple product, I researched both older and newer Apple commercials such as Don’t Blink, AirPods 3, Design is how it works, HomePod mini, and Every product carbon neutral by 2030.
04. Combining visuals Once the typography animation and AI-generated visuals were ready, I brought everything together and fine-tuned the pacing and transitions.
05. Sound design. To finish it off, I added music and sound design to bring the video to life and really make it feel impactful.
